Elegance Collection
UNDERTSTAMENT AS ARTISTRY.
Ever since the birth of Grand Seiko in 1960, elegance always came effortlessly, thanks to purity in design aesthetics and handmade craftsmanship in its finest form.
These exquisite watches are handcrafted exclusively at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio, the birthplace of the world’s foremost mechanical watch. Located in Iwate Prefecture, the Shizukuishi watch studio plays a central role in the production of every Grand Seiko with a mechanical movement at its heart.
The Grand Seiko collection distinguishes itself through its near-perfect functionality in each of its 200 individual parts. Its trademark precision, a result of the sheer skill of the craftsmen and women at Shizukuishi is what lends the final timepiece its extraordinary quality. Polished by skilled hands using a unique technique called Zaratsu polishing; the soft curves of the cases achieve a distortion-free, brilliant mirrored finish. The multi-faceted hands and indices sparkle in every light.
CLASSIC & ELEGANT AUTOMATIC GMT - SBGM221G
Crafted for those who travel in style to the other side of the world, this timeless signature features a blue steel GMT hand that displays time in a second-time zone. With meticulous technicality at its heart, there is no loss of precision when the time difference is adjusted.
This classic timepiece blends elegance and sophistication with its box-shaped sapphire glass and case lug. Its slightly curved case lugs offer a perfect fit on the wrist with no movement. Expertly reflecting its light and shadow concept, the multi-cut hands and hour markers capture light from all sources, keeping legibility high even in low light. The watch also features a 39.5 mm diameter stainless steel case with 72 hours power reserve that’s designed to endure through time.
The "Blue steel" hand as it’s fondly called gets its distinctive colour once the steel is heated at around 400°C for 10 to 20 seconds. On heating, the colours change from yellow to brown to grey and finally blue. The steel is then coated with a blue oxide film by master craftsmen to lend this timepiece its elegant blue aura. The blue colour not only enhances the overall look of the watch but acts as proof against corrosion, dust and does not peel off over time.
SLIM MANUAL WINDING CALIBER WITH 72 HOURS POWER RESERVE - SBGK007G
Nothing is more important to the Japanese sensibility than the use of space. The unique charm of Ikebana arrangements comes from the way that the area around each flower accentuates its beauty. So it is with the SBGK007. The dial includes both a power reserve indicator and a small second’s hand. They are clear and legible as the Grand Seiko aesthetic demands but the space around them allows these sub-dials to sit elegantly on the dial.
The subtle texture of the dial is captivating and lends an air of sophisticated charm to the wrist. This hand-winding, slim profile watch is accentuated by the curved sapphire crystal glass and its 39 mm diameter stainless steel case.
The slim profile of the case is made possible by tailoring the engineering to the design. The movement is wound by hand and so can be thinner. The small seconds hand at the nine o'clock position uses less height than a center seconds hand would need. The dial slopes away at the edge to accentuate the slimness of the case, which is curved to sit close to the wrist.
